Mothers are special everywhere. Without them we wouldn't be here. While in the West, or these days also in the modern East, mothers struggle to balance their work and personal lives, in Bali these mothers often blends things in an easygoing way, without separating the two. They don't seek to "balance" their lives, they just balance their kids on their laps while working.
I met these women around nine in the morning, in a terracotta workshop where they make little scuptures to be exported all over the world. No doubt, like most Balinese woman, these ladies had gone to the market, made breakfast, and put out offerings to the gods before going to work with their young children. And from what I've witnessed of daily life in Bali, mothers don't get any special day where they get pampered. Maybe we should propose the idea?
